Many of you know or know of our incarcerated comrade Mfalme Sikivu (Dontie Mitchell). Mfalme has been an organizer inside for over 20 years and a mentor as well. He is an outspoken revolutionary, and the founder of UFD (Ujaama Fraternal Dynasty), an organization aimed at uplift for Black and oppressed peoples. Last week, Mfalme was once again attacked by CO's and put in solitary, this time with all of his legal papers, both for UFD and for his own case, confiscated. It is likely no accident that Mfalme was working with organizers to support upcoming rallies for cleme
There is an urgent need for immediate remedy in Smith County Texas and their jail facility. There is reported blood, urine and feces that goes uncleaned in the booking cells where immune compromised / HIV infected individuals are being kept from up to 7 - 9 days before being booked or introduced into a 14 day quarantine area. While in booking, they only have a chair and toilet. There is no blankets or anything for sleep provided. Medicine for those who require it is also not be being provided, where individuals are getting seizures because of not providing seizure medication.
In Soledad Prison, there is a strong undercurrent of racism and racial profiling from Warden Craig Koenig. The harassment of Talib Williams at the hands of Soledad State Prison guards has resulted in Talib being found guilty of bogus charges and famiily visits were taken away for five years. These new charges tarnish Talib's chances before the parole board next summer.
WE WILL KICK OFF THE PHONE ZAP ON ANTI-POLICE BRUTALITY DAY ON OCTOBER 22nd, 2020, IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE AIRING OF AN INTERVIEW WITH TALIB'S WIFE ON KPOO 89.5 FM PRISON FOCUS RADIO ON THURSDAY, 10/22/2020 AT 11 AM PST!!!

We heard that the phone calls contributed to time out of cells for loved ones at Jesup, but our comrades have a new set of demands. Please see the demands and phone zap below. We are looking for legal support and press around this as well!
Demands:
Jason Goudlock and thousands of other old-law prisoners in Ohio should be out of prison. People committing similar crimes under new laws have definite sentences and have since come and gone while the old-law prisoners, like Jason Goudlock, remain locked up. Add to this situation the high risk of contracting COVID-19 and it's clear that these old-law prisoners need to be released NOW!
See https://freejasongoudlock.org for more information about Jason and Ohio's old-law prisoners situation.
Jermon Clark is one man in Beaumont Low Security FCI who caught Covid 19 amid the current outbreak that is running out of control. In particular, he is high risk with sickle cell and hypertension. Jermon's charges, his 55 year sentence earned at 16, are based on the crime committed by the older boys he was with. 25 years later, those charges are cited as the reason he can't be released.
After leading a hunger strike with the participation of close to 200 prisoners during its height and penning several articles in response to the negligent and lackadaisical attitude displayed by prison officials, Rashid was immediately targeted for retaliation. This came in the form of his money being taken but ordered commissary withheld (withholding commissary is illegal unless it is done as a punitive measure after a prisoner has been charged and found guilty of an infraction which was not the case with Rashid) and his cell being ransacked by officers Corcoran and Long, not once but twice, two days in a row immediately following the articles being published. One of the guards there at Pendleton even went so far as to tell Rashid while he was being held in the extraction cell during the second cell search, that if he would just stop writing about the conditions there at Pendleton then the abuse and retaliation would end. During the second extraction and cell search, Rashid's tablet was purposefully shattered in order to prevent him from communicating with the outside world. His next-door neighbor was able to hear the conversation between the guards and heard one say to the other "Here it is" after finding Rashid's tablet after which it was immediately stomped on repeatedly and crushed.
After these failed attempts at coercion, Rashid immediately filed a grievance, as was his right, to protest this illegal action. Rashid received word just yesterday that the grievance filed in May was denied. The timing of this decision is worth noting because being that Rashid did not receive a determination for his grievance until just yesterday he was not able to appeal it within the given timeframe paving the way for them to carry out this latest round of retaliatory abuse.
I am hearing about bad conditions at Century CI: punitive lockdowns, dangerous handing of Coronavirus. I don’t have a lot of details. I heard from a person incarcerated there last week but have had no response from him since. He was asking specifically that phone calls be made to Tallahassee. Is this on the radar? Can a phone zap be done for this institution?
Thnak you for considering, and all you are doing for incarcerated people.
***UPDATE FROM A HUNGERSTRIKER***
Since January 9, 2019 an estimated 250 prisoners are on hungerstrike within California State Prison - Corcoran's 3C facility in response to an indefinite lockdown. They have asked that this info be made public and that their demands be heard.
BACKGROUND: All units within 3C have been on "modified program" for a three and a half months. Here this essentially means a "lockdown" in all meaningful aspects - no visitation, no canteen, no packages, no educational, rehab or vocational programming, and little yard time. The pretext for this indefinite lockdown by CDCr of hundreds of prisoners for months on end is an altercation on Sept 28th which saw three prisoners from their grouping attacked and put into the infirmary. Group punishments and indefinite isolation are standard practices by CDCr and must stop. These practices only escalate trauma and conflict, and ultimately only promote violence and destabilization within facilities. This effects are not an accident or "regrettable by-products". This is how CDCr interprets its mission: control by brutalization and division.
Representatives of the unit have composed and relayed their demands to the outside as follows:
"Corcoran State Prison (3C YRD)
6 Core Demands Are As Follows:
- Lift Lock-Down.
- Allow Visits.
- Allow Us To Attend Educational Vocational & Rehabilitation Programs That We’re Enrolled In
- Allow us to Receive Commissary & Packages
- That We Be Given Our Weekly 10 hrs Mandated Of Outdoor Exercise Yard
- That We Are Treated Fairly
***WE’VE BEEN ON THIS PEACEFUL HUNGER STRIKE SINCE JANUARY 9TH, 2019 AND HAVE YET TO SEE CHANGE...
WE WILL CONTINUE THIS HUNGER STRIKE UNTIL OUR VOICES ARE HEARD."

On May 12th, prison rebels at Crossroads Correctional Center in Missouri staged a sit in. Prison officials refused their demands and the action escalated. During the uprising, the property room was destroyed. Prisoners are asking the administration to replace the lost and damaged property.
Because prisons receive more funding if every bed has a person in it, people are put in segregation when a bed comes open, not necessarily because they have actually committed an infraction. People are constantly rotated in and out of segregation for "investigation" which can last up to 6 months. Around 35 prisoners in Housing Unit 2, the administrative segregation unit at Missouri's South Central Correctional Center, have been staging a sit in by requesting protective custody.
With resistance often comes repression, and North Carolina Department of Public Services is no different. While joining a national chorus of prison bureaucrats denying prisoner protest or strikes to the media, NC DPS is privately admitting in their infraction forms that prisoners are being thrown into segregation for strike organizing.
Resistance flares up in the IDOC once again. We've received word that a hunger strike has begun at Westville Correctional Facility in Westville, Indiana.
The demands of these inmates are much the same as the recently concluded and severely repressed hunger strike at Wabash Valley: insufficient and inedible meals, freezing cold temperatures, lack of access to commissary, etc.
Details of this strike are still coming in but all accounts are that it is ongoing meaning the inmates need immediate and consistent outside support.
Please Call:

Please call the office of Nova Scotia Justice Minister Mark Furey in solidarity with prisoners at Burnside. David Easley, James Ward, and Matt Hinkston went on hunger strike on Friday, September 14. They are demanding an end to retaliation for involvement in the national strike, and protesting the long-term solitary confinement of inmates with mental health issues, and violence by guards. Prison officials are trying to put them in solitary and to put David in a sound-isolation chamber (a "bubble") in retaliation for this, and on Friday, September 14, guards in the Toledo Correctional Institution maced them for being on hunger strike and having a sit-in.
People in prison at the McCormick facility in South Carolina were pre-emptively targeted in the lead up to the national strike. Call and demand the end to the repression.
Prisoners held within the Hyde Correctional Institution, a facility in Fairfield, NC, were threatened with retaliation for their active support and organizing in solidarity with the national #PrisonStrike. Two prisoners in particular - Todd J Martin, and Jace Buras - are being designated by prison faculty as strike organizers. They're facing threats of administrative repression, as are any other fellow prisoners connected to the national strike.
