Denver joined dozens of other cities for a Millions for Prisoners call for an end to prison slavery. Protesters marched on the Denver Women's Correctional Facility and GEO Detention Centre. On the inside, nearly 100 women at the Denver Women's Correctional Facility refused chow in honor of the day.
On Saturday, August 19, 50-100 people gathered in Kanas City to participate in the national "Millions for Prisoners' Human Rights" rally against prison slavery and suffering, called by Jailhouse Lawyers Speaks and the IamWE Prison Advocacy Network. Alison, of the KC Greens, writes:
Last weekend, an estimated 40,000 people gathered in Boston to opposite white supremacists and fascists, and support prisoners' demands for an end to prison slavery and suffering.

There is a fire seething in US prisons. September 9th of 2016 saw some of the largest prisoner rebellions in history. This August, prisoners are calling to fan the flames up again.

On September 9, 2016, the 45th anniversary of the Attica Uprising, as thousands of prisoners across the world are striking against prison-slavery, several thousand indigenous tribal members of over 160 tribes and supporters of #BlackLivesMatter are collectively resisting white-supremacist and settler-colonialist capitalist powers.
On September 8th, in solidarity with prisoners taking action for the 9/9 prisoner strike, about a dozen people disrupted activities at the local Democratic Party campaign headquarters. Standing outside the building, people held a large banner announcing the prisoner strike while a statement was read and others passed out handbills.
